We are pleased to announce that Simon Slade has joined the Touring Car Trophy/TCR UK organising team as series coordinator. Simon takes over duties from from Nicki Lines, who will still be very much involved, dealing with entries and administration and will continue to attend all of the meetings.
A former competitor himself, Simon has been involved with motorsport for more than 40 years and possesses over 20 years experience of coordinating events and championships. During this time he has also managed numerous PR and media campaigns, having worked with drivers, teams and manufacturers at national and international level, in a variety of disciplines, including racing, rallying, Rallycross, sprinting and Time Attack.
“It’s great to be coordinating the series. It’s clear it represents highly competitive, value-for-money racing. Taking these attributes into account, part of my role will be helping to develop the new Maximum Motorsport race-weekend package and ensure that both series’ enjoy the profile and status they deserve. I therefore look forward to working with teams, drivers and commercial partners during the course of the season.”
After running the TCT/TCR UK series for the first time in 2019, 2020 sees Maximum Motorsport combine this year's 14 rounds for seven stand-alone meetings with the VW Racing Cup. There is also expansion into other areas, as Maximum Motorsport boss Stewart Lines explains:
“With the changes in the way we promote our meetings and having extended our motorsport commitments this year, to ensure we deliver and develop our series’ we needed to increase our resources. We’re therefore delighted to welcome Simon into the fold and look forward to what promises to be an exciting season ahead.”
